BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb football will hosts its annual Salute to Service game on Saturday, October 22, vs. Kennesaw State. Kickoff is set for Noon in Spangler Stadium.
The Big South Conference and corporate partner Hardee's® have also teamed up for a special promotion in conjunction with Saturday's game.
All veterans and active members of the armed forces – and their families – will receive free admission Saturday. Members of JROTC programs will also receive free admission.
Gardner-Webb has hosted a Salute to Service game every season since 2012.
The Big South and Hardee's® will administer a special football fundraiser and military appreciation initiative to celebrate and honor America's veterans. Together, the Big South and Hardee's® will each donate $5 to the Patriot Foundation for every point scored by the league's teams on Saturday.
The donations will benefit the Patriot Foundation's mission to provide scholarship grants to the children of soldiers who have been killed, wounded or injured since 9/11.
Saturday's Kennesaw State/Gardner-Webb game is one of six designated games on the Big South Conference schedule in 2016.
The game will be televised live on the American Sports Network (ASN), with local availability on WCCB-2 (antenna) and MASN (DirecTV channel 640 / Dish Network channel 432). Play-by-plan man Mike Hogewood and analyst Renaldo Wynn will provide the call.
