SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With Monday's play suspended on the back nine due to bad weather, Gardner-Webb sits in fifth place at the 2017 Wofford Invitational.
The 12 teams participating will get back to action early Tuesday morning to finish the first round and will play the second – and final – 18 holes later in the day.
Each of Gardner-Webb's golfers were through 15 holes when play was halted Monday, as the 'Dogs were at even par – seven strokes behind first-place George Mason – in the team standings.
Aaron Thomas (-1) is tied for 11th through 15 holes, with Vincent Blanchette (16) and Chris Jones (15) sitting in a tie for 17th at even par. Johnathan Henry (+1) is tied for 28th and Steffen Smith (+4) is tied for 52nd. Both Henry and Smith also completed 15 holes Monday.
Gardner-Webb is one stroke behind North Dakota State and one stroke in front of host Wofford.
Presbyterian's Hayden Ploeger shot a 6-under par through 15 holes to sit in the individual lead Monday.
