Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Exhibition Match At UNC Wilmington Monday Night

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Gardner-Webb kicked off its exhibition season in men's soccer Monday night, falling by a 1-0 score at UNC Wilmington.

The Seahawks netted the match's lone tally in the 53rd minute, with Mark Lindstrom putting home a header off the foot of Joel Bylander – with the assist coming off a free kick.

Gardner-Webb was outshot 14-2 on the night and the host Seahawks held a 5-0 edge in corners. The two teams combined for 25 fouls in the match.

Running' Bulldogs keeper Matthew Swan collected the lone save of the evening in 60 minutes of action. William Liles played 30 minutes in the net for GWU.

Gardner-Webb will continue its exhibition season this Friday, hosting Lees-McRae at Greene-Harrison Stadium in Boiling Springs. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm.
