CLEMSON, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Clemson Invitational this afternoon, taking on competition that included ACC and SEC schools. The Runnin' Buldogs faired well throughout the day, earning a handful of top finishes and setting a handful of new personal records.
-Gabby Cortese finished seventh in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:54.15, followed by Claire Cates in eighth place with a time of 18:59.04.
-Kayin Mujahid tied for fourth place in the high jump at 1.65m. Ashleigh Cleveland finished eighth at 1.60m, a new PR.
-Stephanie Lombardo placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 11.61m.
-Petra Jakelijic finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.71m and Natasha Akbarizadeh finished seventh at 14.99m.
-Carlos Williams finshed 13th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.65, a new PR.
-Christopher Lile finished fourth in the 3000 meter run, timing in at 9:11.16.
-Nick Bandos placed third in the pole vault at 4.20m.
-Jalin Lawson finished fifth in the long jump at 6.85m, and Quenton Jones placed seventh at 6.74m.
-Marcus Abraham placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 17.01m. AJ White placed eighth with a distance of 16.00m, a new PR.
-In the weight throw, AJ White placed 6th (14.15m), Marcus Abraham placed 7th (13.98m) and Alex Bouwmans placed 8th (13.93m).
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action next weekend, traveling to Boone, N.C. to take part in the 2017 Mountaineer NCAA Indoor Meet on January 20-21.
