Women's Golf Takes Sixth At 2016 WCU Bill Berg Invitational

HAYESVILLE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb lowered its final round score by eight strokes Tuesday and finished sixth at the 2016 WCU Bill Berg Invitational.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (308-308-300-916) finished two strokes behind fifth-place Marshall and five strokes in front of Wofford.

Eastern Kentucky won the title with a score of 889, 20 strokes ahead of host Western Carolina.

Julia Henderson led Gardner-Webb's charge, carding a six-over par to finish in a tie for third on the 5,876-yard course. Henderson (73-75-74-222) led the way with a 73 in the opening round.

Taylor Dodson (78-80-74-232) finished in a tie for 24th, Sarah Bertram (76-82-75-233) finished in a tie for 27th, as did freshman Allison Chandler (81-75-77-233).

Freshman Mim Sangkapong (82-78-80-240) finished in a tie for 45th.

Gardner-Webb will be back in action on October 30 and the Mercer Women's Invitational in Macon, Ga.
