BOILING SPRINGS - The Gardner-Webb women' soccer team will host Longwood in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Friday, October 28.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished with a 6-3 league record to earn the fourth overall seed. Longwood finished fifth with a conference record of 5-3-1.
The two teams met earlier in the year on September 24 in Farmville, Va., where the Lancers took a 5-0 win. Sophomore keeper Keely Brown posted a season-high in saves that afternoon, tallying 13 stops.
Friday's match will kick off at 7:00 pm and can be seen on the Big South Network (www.bigsouthsports.com).
The 2016 Big South Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites this weekend before moving to Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. for the semifinals and finals on November 4 and 6. The quarterfinals and semifinals will air on the Big South Network, while the final will be shown on ESPN3. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. The full tournament schedule is as follows:
