BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb women's tennis rolled to a 6-1 win over Longwood in its home Big South Conference opener Saturday morning, winning five of six singles points.

The Runnin' Bulldogs took the doubles point after falling behind at No. 3 doubles, with the duo of Sandra Bolstad and Daniela Naupari taking a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles to pull even.

Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann then won the team point, battling to a 7-6 (7-0) win at No. 2 doubles.

With that 1-0 team lead intact, Gardner-Webb went to work in singles play.

White cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles to finish first and, after Longwood took a win at No. 6 singles, Rieckmann bounced back with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles to put the 'Dogs up 3-1 on the team scoreboard.

Naupari followed suit at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 (7) win to seal the team victory and push GWU up by a 4-1 score.

Miljana Ristic rallied back for a win at No. 4 singles (2-6, 7-5, 6-2) and Bolstad capped the dominant performance with a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles to close out the day.

The team win was Gardner-Webb's fourth in its last five matches. Two of those wins have come by 6-1 scores.

Gardner-Webb (4-3, 1-1 Big South) evened its record in league play and will step out of conference on Thursday, March 2, to host Wofford at 2:00 pm. Longwood (0-5, 0-3 Big South) travels to Coppin State on Tuesday.
