William & Mary stormed out of the gate in the first set, opening an early 8-1 lead before pushing the margin to 15-6 following a Stein smash. Gardner-Webb would fight back with a 10-4 spurt to close the gap to 19-16, before the Tribe countered with 10 of the next 11 points to quell the rally and take the first set, 25-17.

The Tribe carried the momentum into the second frame with a 14-4 surge, which was capped by a smash from Foote. Back-to-back kills from Driscoll and Lillard trimmed the margin to 16-8, before a 9-4 run gave William & Mary a 25-12 second-set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

William & Mary kept pushing with a 14-3 run to open the third - a surge capped by back-to-back tandem blocks by Brenner and Primatic after a kill from Foote. An 11-7 spurt for the Tribe would finish off the win, as Foote and Primatic combined for a pair of smashes to record the final two points and complete the sweep for William & Mary.

Gardner-Webb returns to the court on Saturday when the Runnin' Bulldogs take on Davidson at 10:00 am, followed by a matchup with host South Carolina at 7:00 pm to cap the weekend at the Gamecock Invitational.
