CARY, N.C. — Keaton Poole (Spindale, N.C.) beat his previous personal record by more than one and a half minutes, as five Runnin' Bulldogs set a new personal best to highlight a solid team performance for Gardner-Webb at the Adidas XC Challenge on Friday evening.
Christopher Lile (Waynesville, N.C.) crossed the line first for the men's team with a new 6k personal best of 20:00, as Poole followed close behind with his PR of 20:04 - more than 1:37 faster than his previous best. Ezekiel Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) finished third on the team with a personal-best of 22:09, while Marcquel Woodard (Gainesville, Ga.) turned in a time of 23:29. Logan Walker, Jerrod TImmons and Brett Holida posted times of 23:33, 24:05 and 24:18, respectively, in their first collegiate 6k race.
Gabrielle Cortese (Franklin Springs, Ga.) led the way for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a time of 20:18 in the women's 5k, as Jenna Ford (Wasilla, Alaska) finished close behind with a mark of 20:32. Rachel White (King, N.C.) and Sydney Davis (Granite Falls, N.C.) crossed the line one-half second apart with times of 20:59.1 and 20:59.6, respectively, which is a new personal-best for White.
Freshman Hannah Jones set a new PR of her own with a mark of 21:51 - beating her previous best by nearly one minute - while Michaela Williams (Nashville, N.C.) and Brittany Ollivierre posted times of 21:56 and 22:51, respectively.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Saturday, October 1 in Spartanburg, S.C. at the USC Upstate Invitational.
