SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Seven Runnn' Bulldog runners posted new personal records Saturday morning to highlight Gardner-Webb's performance at the Upstate Invitational at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C.
Christopher Lile led the way for the men's team, clocking in 24th place with a pace of 26:38.21 in the 8k, setting a new PR by 52 seconds. Keaton Poole followed closely in 26th place with a time of 26:49.00, besting his previous best time by 47 seconds. Josh Parks clocked in at 28:54.57, while Ezekiel Martin timed in at 29:08.11, trimming a 1:13 off of his previous best time. Brett Holida posted a time of 30:59.25, nearly two minutes better than his personal record. Jerrod Timmons ran the course in 31.49.30 and Marcquel Woodard timed in a 32:38.63 to round out the field of GWU runners.
On the women's side, Gabby Cortese clocked in at 19:38.49 to lead the Gardner-Webb runners in the 5k. Jenna Ford timed in at 20:35.97, followed closely by Sydney Davis, who posted a new personal best time of 20:45.94, beating her previous record by just under two seconds. Rachel White paced the course with a time of 21:18.88, finishing just ahead of teammate Hannah Jones, who timed in at 21:20.56, setting a new PR by 31 seconds. Michaela Williams crossed the finish line at 21:37.17 and Amy Turlington clocked in at 21:56.71 with a new best time by just less than three seconds.
Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs is the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C. The women's team will compete in a 5k, while the men's squad will race in an 8k on Friday, October 7th at 4:00 pm.
