
Bulldogs Finish Seventh in Rain Shortened Landrey Invitational

Lynchburg, Va. The Gardner-Webb men's golf team was in action this past weekend as they competed in the Landrey Invitational hosted by Liberty University.
Although round three was rained out on Tuesday, the Dogs still turned in strong performances to combine for a team score of 599 good enough for seventh overall.
The Dogs were led by newcomer Immu Korvenmaa, who finished in a tie for 10th overall with rounds of 74 and 73 for a two round score of 147, +3.
Sophomore Blake Palmer finished only one shot behind Korvenmaa, turning in a 148, +2 for two rounds. Palmer's 148, +2 performance placed him in a tie for 12th place.
Senior Joshua Philbeck played consistent over the two rounds, carding a 75, +3 for both rounds, good enough for a 150, +6 and a tie for 18th finish.
Junior Geordie Hagerman and freshman Andrew Rickard both had impressive second rounds, as each turned in a round of 74, +2.
Western Carolina
won the tournament finishing six-strokes ahead of Charleston
Southern after shooting a 571 on Monday at the Poplar Grove Golf
Club in Amherst.
Longwood posted a 588 while Towson and Radford shot a 590 rounding
out the top five. In round two Liberty shot the second-best team
score to place sixth at the end of the day.
The men's golf team will be back in action on November 4, when they will compete in the WCU Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina.
