
Lady Bulldogs Compete in the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate

Waynesville, N.C. - For the third straight tournament, the Lady Bulldogs have been led by a different golfer, as sophomore Mackenzie Renner paced the 'Dogs with a two-round score of 152, +8 for the tournament. The Wachovia - Great Smokies was held at the par 72, 5,915-yard Waynesville Country Club.
Gardner-Webb finished 12th out of 23 teams, turning in a two-round combined team score of 613, +37 for the tournament. The Bulldogs finished ahead of teams such as Appalachian State, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay State, High Point, Wofford, Radford, The Citadel, and A-sun members Kennesaw State and Lipscomb.
Two sophomores led the Lady Bulldogs, as Renner turned in rounds of 74, +2 and 78, +6, to place in a tie for 32nd place individually. Fellow classmate Katie Garahan finished on the heels of Renner, turning in combined two day score of 153, +9 to finish in a tie for 38th place overall.
Senior Claudine Foong and sophomore Yayoi Garcia each carded a 154, +10 over the two rounds, as both tied for 46th place for the tournament.
Also competing for the Lady Bulldogs was Stacey Linduska, who turned in a 89th place finish with her two round combined score of 163, +19.
The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will return to the links later on this month, when they will compete in the 2006 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate Tournament in Greenville, N.C. hosted by East Carolina on October 20-22.
