
Lady Golfers Compete in 2006 Lady Pirate Invitational

Greenville, N.C. The Gardner-Webb women's golf team competed in the 2006 Lady Pirate Invitational tournament hosted by East Carolina over the weekend, turning in a 15th place finish out of 20 teams.
The Lady Bulldogs turned in combined rounds of 313, 313 and 318 for a 944, +80 for the three day event. Gardner-Webb tied with Longwood for 15th place and finished ahead of Methodist College, UAB, Radford and Appalachian State.
Sophomore Katie Garahan led the Bulldogs with a 232, +16, carding rounds of 77, 74 and 81 for the event. Garahan finished tied for 57th overall.
Senior Claudine Foong tied for 68th-place turning in rounds of 76, 83 and 76, for a combined three round score of 235, +19. Sophomore Yayoi Garcia finished right on the heels of Foong, turning in a 239, +23, good enough for a tie in 76th place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was sophomores Mackenzie Renner and Dana Prozeller, who finished tied for 86th and tied for 88th, respectively.
GWU will be back in action next weekend, when they will wrap up their 2006 fall season, teeing off in the Debary Intercollegiate hosted by Winthrop University. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 29.
