
Men's Golf Takes 10th at Mission Inn Collegiate Classic

Howey-In-The-Hills, FL - The Bulldog's finished 10th out of 18 teams this weekend, as they competed in the 2006 Mission Inn Collegiate Classic hosted by Winthrop.
GWU turned in team rounds of 299, 305 and 301 for a combined three round score of 905 for the tournament. The 'Dogs finished ahead of fellow A-Sun affiliates Stetson and Lipscomb, as well as Appalachian State, High Point, Murray State and Florida Atlantic.
Gardner-Webb was led by sophomore Blake Palmer who turned in a ninth-place individual finish overall, carding rounds of 71, 73, and 73 for a 217, +4 for the tournament.
Junior Geordie Hagerman and Sam Ransom each tied for 52nd overall, as both turned in three-round scores of 230, +17.
Senior Josh Philbeck and sophomore Ryan Bell rounded out the scoring for the 'Dogs, as Philbeck shot rounds of 86, 79, and 74 for a combined score of 239, +26. Bell shot a 241, +28 for the tournament.
Charleston Southern overcame a six-shot by Winthrop on the final day of play to capture the 2006 Mission Inn Collegiate Classic with a three-round score of 868, as Mark St. Onge led the comeback for the Bucs with a three-under par 68.
Gardner-Webb men's golf team will be back in action on October 16, when they will compete in the Frank Landrey Invitational hosted by Liberty University.
