BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb's cross country teams head to
Louisville, Ky., this weekend to participate in the 2006 NCAA
Regional Meet on Saturday.
Both squads head into regionals with optimism after solid
performances two weeks ago at the 2006 A-Sun Championships in
Boiling Springs.
On the men's side, GWU will be led by All-Conference runners Joshua
Hudson (St. Louis, Mo.) and Lucas McAnaney (North Bay, Ontario),
along with junior standout Alex Nimmo (Fayetteville, Ark.). That
trio paced the Bulldogs to a fourth-place team finish at the recent
A-Sun championships, and will look to improve on their times in the
8K on Saturday.
The women will be led by seniors Katherine Warden (Columbia, S.C.)
and Michele Milner (Aiken, S.C.), with Warden coming off a strong
10th-place effort at the 2006 A-Sun Championships. Her
All-Conference effort came against very difficult conditions, as
the field endured a mud-soaked circuit and windy conditions for
much of the morning on October 28 in Boiling Springs.
The GWU women finished seventh as a team in the A-Sun race.
Saturday's distance will be 6K in the women's race.
