
Sophomore Duo Leads 'Dogs to a Sixth Place Finish

Hendersonville, N.C. - Sophomores Ryan Bell and Blake Palmer eached carded a two-round combined score of 145, +1 to finish in a tie for sixth-place overall and help lead the Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish in the 2006 WCU Intercollegiate, played at Etowah Valley Country Club.
As a team Gardner-Webb turned in rounds of 306 and 288 to finish the two-day tournament with a score of 594, only two strokes back behind the fourth-place teams. Tennessee Tech tied with the Bulldogs for sixth-place, while Elon, Radford, High Point, University of Dayton and Lipscomb all rounded out the tournament field.
Freshman Immu Korvennmaa turned in rounds of 78 and 72 for a two-round score of 150, +6 that was good enough to place him in a tie for 25th individually.
Junior Geordie Hagerman and senior Joshua Philbeck rounded out the scoring for the 'Dogs, as each carded a 156, +12 for the contests placing them in a tie at 44th with four other golfers.
The Gardner-Webb men's golf team will take a break from action over the winter and will return to competition on February 20 in the CSU Kick-Off Classic.
