Runnin' Bulldogs To Host Methodist Wednesday In Men's Exhibition
November 07, 2006 | Men's Basketball
BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb University will host Division III
Methodist (N.C.) College in a men's basketball exhibition game on
Wednesday night at 7:00 pm ET in Paul Porter Arena.
Fans will get their first chance to see the new-look Runnin'
Bulldogs in action, in the lone exhibition of the preseason.
Admission is free to the general public.
With 11 newcomers and just four returning letterwinners, the
2006-2007 Runnin' Bulldogs will be an entirely different group than
the veteran squads that combined to win 35 games over the past two
seasons. The fresh faces can play, however, with 6-foot-5 guard
Jake Sims (Augusta, Kan.), 6-foot-8 center Samba Fall (Dakar,
Senegal), 6-foot-3 wing Thomas Sanders (Sugar, Texas) and 6-foot-8,
235-pound center Auryn MacMillan (Melbourne, Australia) each
expected to push for starting jobs or major minutes early.
Methodist College is an NCAA Division III school located in
Fayetteville, N.C.
Gardner-Webb opens its regular season on Monday, November 13, at
Big 12 contender Texas Tech - in the first round of the CBE Classic
in Lubbock, Texas.
The Red Raiders, who went 12-4 at home last season, are coached by
the legendary Bob Knight. The game will be televised live on ESPNU,
with the opening tip set for 10 pm ET.
