Bulldog Harriers Set To Open 2006 Campaign In Boone

BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb's men's cross country team will get its season underway Friday afternoon, as they travel to the High Country to run in the Appalachian State Invitational.
Brian Baker's men are looking to improve upon their finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference meet last season, and will have the advantage of hosting that meet on October 28.
But first, the Bulldog harriers will get their feet wet in Boone Friday afternoon. The core of veteran runners will be paced by juniors Lucas McAneney (Ontario, Canada) and Alex Nimmo (Fayetteville, Ark.) and redshirt sophomore Josh Hudson (St. Louis, Mo.). The trio will challenge for All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors this season, but aren't the only weapons in Baker's arsenal this season.
Erin Goodrum (Soph.), Tim Israel (Soph.) and Geoff Lesche-Wragge (Soph.) had solid Track & Field seasons last winter and spring, and will be joined by second-year runners Justin Keziah and Charles Steinke to add depth to the team.
The lone newcomer for Baker's squad is Justin Mauney, a junior from Charlotte, N.C.
