Men's Golf in Action at Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb Men's Golf team was in action on Monday and Tuesday, as they finished 11th as a team in the 19th Annual Wofford Invitational tournament hosted by Wofford College and VAULT. The tournament was played at the par-72, 6,877-yard Carolina Country Club Golf Course in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Bulldogs battled 12 other teams as well as the weather
throughout the two day tournament, as they would shoot rounds of
319, 313, and 314.
Gardner-Webb was led by junior Joshua Philbeck, who finished in a
tie in 19th place with a three round combined score of 229.
Philbeck shot a second round 74, +2.
Freshman Ryan Bell finished with a 234, +18 for the two-day event,
which placed him tied for 32nd place at the end of the tournament.
Bell finished the tournament strong, shooting a 73, +1, for his
third round. Classmate Blake Palmer registered a 51st place finish
with rounds of 84, 78, and 80, while sophomore Geordie Hagerman
finished tied for 55th place with his three round combined score of
247, +31.
Rounding out the Bulldogs squad was junior Casey Flattery who
finished 58th. He shot rounds of 79, 88, and 84 over the two-day
event.
The Bulldogs will look to finish their season strong, as they will
next compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on April
17.
