Milner Takes Top Spot At Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Michele Milner took first place at the 2006
Clemson Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning, edging Western
Carolina's Kerrie Savery by nine seconds.
Milner, a senior from Aiken, S.C., ran the 5,000-meter course in
18:36.7 to lead the field. South Carolina won the team crow
Saturday (31 points), while Western Carolina nipped the Bulldogs by
one team point for second place.
Katherine Warden ran a time of 19:35.1 to finish sixth individually
and Abby Callahan took 11th position with a time of 19:51.4. Bree
Tharpe (13th, 20:24.3) also finished in the top-15 for
Gardner-Webb.
Carrie Minard (18th) rounded out the scorers for the Bulldogs. GWU
will be back in action on Friday, September 15 at the Western
Carolina Invitational.
