Milner Wins Individual Title At ECU/McAlister's Deli Meet, GWU Takes Second

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Senior Michele Milner continued her strong
season on Saturday afternoon, winning the ECU/McAlister's Deli 5K
cross country race - and giving the Bulldog women a second place
finish as a team.
Milner (Aiken, S.C.) topped East Carolina's Nicole Briggs by eight
seconds, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 18:46. Newcomer Abby
Callahan ran strong as well for the Bulldogs, taking seventh with a
time of 19:34.
Bree Tharpe, a sophomore, also posted a top-10 finish, taking
ninth, and was followed in the scoring column by Carrie Minard
(13th), Beth Long (16th) and Jessica Poremsky (23rd).
GWU was without senior Katherine Warden, who did not compete. East
Carolina captured the team title.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action at home on Friday, as they
host the annual GWU Invitational (Oct. 6).
