
Men's Golf Kicks Off Fall Season In Peach State

WAVERLY, Ga. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team began their fall season this weekend, as they participated in the Sanctuary Cove Collegiate Tournament hosted by Mercer University.
The Labor Day weekend event was a preview of the site of the season-ending 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships scheduled for mid-April.
As a team the Bulldogs would finish third, shooting a total of 291 for both rounds, giving them a two day score of 582, + 14.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Ryan Bell who shot a low round of 70, -1 on Sunday. On Monday, Bell followed his Sunday score with a 71, even par, giving him a 141, one under for the tournament good enough for sixth place overall.
Junior Geordie Hagerman also turned in a second round 71, even par, as he would finish tied for ninth, with a two-day score of 143, +2, only two strokes behind Bell.
Sophomore Blake Palmer turned in a score of 146, +5 for the event, putting him in 11th place overall. Senior's Joshua Philbeck, Matt Renegar and Todd Armstrong turned in scores of 155, 162, and 170, respectively.
The Bulldogs will be teeing off again on September 23, when they will compete in the Sea Trail Invitational hosted by Elon University.
