
Women's Tennis Blanked By Davidson, 7-0

Davidson, N.C. - The Lady Netters suffered their third loss of the young season as they fell to the Davidson Wildcats, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
In doubles play, the Wildcats took all three matches to earn the doubles point and take an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Bulldogs. The GWU tandem of Amy Beavers and Laura Kriett fell at the No. 1 doubles slot, 8-3 to Davidson's Whelan and Linville, while the team of Kasey Ellis and Monica Walser were shutout by Fanney and Dushanova at the No. 2 slot, 8-0. The duo of Jenny Gomez and Carol Pancia also fell in doubles play, losing 8-2 to Skeeters and Berry of Davidson at No. 3.
The Lady Netters did not fair much better in singles play as they lost all six matches and straight sets. Kriett fell at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 6-2, to Linville of Davidson, while Walser lost at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-0.
At the No. 3 and the No. 5 spots freshman Kasey Ellis and sophomore Amy Beavers both fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, while Jenny Gomez battled hard before falling to Whelan of Davidson, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot. Pancia was defeated by Levitte at the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-3.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-3) will look to bounce back when they will take on the Panther of High Point University on February 15 at High Point, N.C. That match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
