
Bulldogs Finish Eighth At Landrey Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. The Gardner-Webb golf team had three rounds of consistent play at the Landrey Invitational, finishing eighth at the tournament that concluded Monday evening.
The Bulldogs combined to shoot a 915 for the tournament after opening with a 304, shooting a 303 the second round and a 308 in the final round of play.
Blake Palmer led the way for the Red and Black, shooting a three-round total of 226 after starting the tournament with a 75, shooting a 78 in round two and coming home with a 73. Palmer tied for 25th.
Andrew Rickard had a solid tournament as well, tying for 32nd, as did Joshua Philbeck. Each tallied a 229 for the competition. Rickard recorded scores of 77-74-78 for his total while Philbeck's scores were 76-76-78 over the three-round tournament.
Geordie Hagerman tied for 48th as he shot a 235 on the links. Hagerman's scores were 76-80-79. Ryan Bell posted an 84 in the opening round, but rebounded quickly with a 76 in the second stanza. Over the final 18 holes though, Bell posted an 85, notching a 245 for the competition on the 7,059-yard course.
Radford won the tournament after shooting a three-round score of 860. A-Sun rival USC-Upstate, which normally has a solid team, finished fourth with an 885.
GWU downed the host institution, which finished ninth after recording a combined sore of 919.
The Bulldogs return to action Oct. 22-23 at the Charleston
Southern Fall Invitational, located in Charleston, S.C.
