Patrick Hall Named Big South Freshman of the Week
October 29, 2007 | Football
CHARLOTTE Gardner-Webb running back Patrick
Hall was named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week by the
league office Monday.
Hall (5-11, 202) helped key Gardner-Webb's 29-25 win over
Charleston Southern, coming off the bench to rush for 100 yards and
two touchdowns on 13 carries nearly doubling his workload
from the previous seven games combined.
Hall's nine-yard score early in the second quarter put Gardner-Webb
on top 9-7, and his 46-yard dash with 4:52 to play in the third
quarter put GWU back in front 22-18. The former Ashbrook (N.C.)
High star added a 21-yard reception in the game, and finished with
new career-high totals in rushing attempts (13), yards (100) and
all-purpose yardage (121). The touchdowns were the first of Hall's
career at Gardner-Webb.
Hall had carried just eight times for 21 yards in his previous
seven appearances in a Bulldog uniform. His only scoring prior to
Saturday came on a two-point conversion run at VMI one week
earlier.
Hall became the first Bulldog freshman to record a 100-yard rushing
game since David Montgomery did so last season against VMI
on October 28.
As a senior at Ashbrook High last season under Gardner-Webb alum
Mike Briggs, Hall scored 27 touchdowns to earn Conference Player of
the Year honors for the Green Wave.
