ROCK HILL, S.C. The Gardner-Webb women's
golf team shot a two-round total of 645 to finish seventh out of 13
teams at the DeBary Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Winthrop
University.
Bethune-Cookman took the overall title by shooting a two-round
total of 611, 35 over par. Host Winthrop finished in sixth after
shooting +61, 637.
Yayoi Garcia paced head coach Tee Burton's team, finishing in a
tie for 10th. Garcia shot an opening round 82 before rebounding
with a 74 over the final 18 holes for a 156 total, 12 over par.
Courtney Meyer tied for 22nd as she shot 17 over for the two
rounds. Meyer had an 80 the first day before coming home with an
81.
Teammate Mackenzie Renner had an opening round score of 85 but
managed to shoot a 78 over the final 18 to finish with a 163, 19
over par.
Katie Garahan placed 35th in the field after shooting a
two-round score of 165. Dana Prozeller tied for 59th with a
174.
The women's team will return to action beginning Feb. 25-26 at
the Fighting Camel Classic, to start the spring season.
