Men's Soccer Travels to S.C. for Non-Conference Match

Gardner-Webb heads to Clinton, SC this Thursday to take on
non-conference foe Presbyterian. Surprisingly, both the Bulldogs
and the Blue Hose have the exact same record of 1-9-1.
After coming off their first win, and a tough loss, the Bulldogs
are looking for a much needed raly in the later stages of the
season. Although Gardner-Webb's record isn't the prettiest,
remember that the Bulldogs have lost five games by only one goal.
Their last lost was, 2-1, against Lipscomb. In that game,
Gardner-Webb had an early 1-0 lead, but gave it up in the second
half.
The Bulldogs have had the lead in several of their matches this
season. However, after they have taken the lead, they seem to
become a more defensive team. Protecting the lead is vital, but the
Bulldogs have the firepower to protect that lead by putting more
goals on the board.
Gardner-Webb has done a great job by striking early in the past
couple of games. Seeing as Presbyterian has given up most of its
goals in the first half, the Bulldogs will look to pressure the
ball off the opening whistle. With early pressure they have the
ability to take control of the game.

Although they are young, they have done a good job this year
helping out Dane Geraci in goal. The young defensive line could
help ensure a shutout seeing as Presbyterian has only scored six
goals all season (three in one game).
The Bulldogs need to focus more on their attack. Senior Richard
Godfrey has been very impressive this season. Godfrey is atop the
A-Sun Conference with six goals so far this season, and has a
two-game scoring streak heading into this Thursday's game. He
cannot do it alone though. Fellow support from Bradley Morrison,
Guy Mbanyamsig, and Jordan Gaines will aid in the Bulldogs' hopes
of getting back on track.
Thursday's game is scheduled for 7PM at Presbyterian.
