
GWU Men Take 24th, Three Women Place at NCAA Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. The Gardner-Webb men's cross country team notched a 24th-place finish at the NCAA Regional on Saturday afternoon. Only three runners on the women's team competed.
Leading the way for GWU was junior Joshua Hudson. Hudson was 91st overall but finished 89th in points after crossing the finish line of the 10k in 32:21 for a school record, notching a 9:07 time at the 3150m split.
The next Bulldog to cross was senior Lucas McAneney. He managed had a 9:10 split at the 3150m mark and finished with a personal-best time of 32:35. McAneney was 98th overall but was 94th in terms of points.
Senior Alex Nimmo came across the line next in a time of 34:00 flat. He was 145th in points. Junior Timothy Israel and sophmore Charlie Steinke rounded out the top five for the Bulldogs. Israel finished 167th and Steinke was not far behind him in 178th.
The ladies gave a great effort as well. Junior Carrie Minard led the GWU women after finishing in 210th, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time in the 6k in 24:48, recording a 12:40 split at the 3150m mark.
Freshman Diana Palka was the next Bulldog to cross the line. Palka finished 216th with a time of 25:34.
Junior Rebecca Silleman finished closely behind Palka; crossing
the line in 223rd place. She averaged a 14:04 mile with her
finishing time of 27:48.
