November 05, 2007 | Women's Soccer
MACON, Ga. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Wyszynski was honored by the Atlantic Sun Conference Monday, for her efforts in the Bulldogs' lone match a week ago.
Wyszynski was named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the first time she has won the award this season and the fourth in her illustrious career
The junior from Wilbraham, Mass., recorded her third shutout of the
season and the 10th of her career by keeping GWU's arch-rival,
Campbell, off the board in the Oct. 31 match on the Bulldogs' home
field.
In the 1-0 win for GWU, Wyszynski notched five saves for the Red and Black. The match turned out to be the final one of the season for head coach Kevin Mounce's squad as it finished in seventh place in the conference (only counting the teams that were eligible for the A-Sun Tournament).
The match marked the end of the career for seniors Ashley
Gesuale, Lindsey Gladhill, Tiffany Greene, Christina Lacy, Elicia
Morris, Lauren Sochacki and Brittany Woods. GWU finished the season
with a 7-11-0 overall record and a 5-6 mark in A-Sun play.
