
Two Take Home Titles; Five Student-Athletes Place At Davidson Open

DAVIDSON, N.C. Rob Tate and Dustin Porter won their respective weight classes at the Davidson Open Saturday evening, in a meet that featured approximately 200 wrestlers.
Tate, grappling in the 133 lb. class, won in dominant style as he pinned his finals' opponent. On the year, Tate has recorded just one loss and has won two tournaments thus far.
Porter, who wrestles in the 197 lb. division, continued his dominant fashion this season, winning by way of technical fall in the finals.
Chad Davis, Chas Franz and Matthias Piasecki all recorded top-five finishes in their respective weight classes.
Davis, competing in 174, reached the finals before dropping the match for his second place finish. Franz, who came into the tournament with a 7-3 overall record in the 141 lb. class, recorded a third-place finish. Piasecki was fourth in the 165 lb. division.
