
Povilonyte Earns A-Sun Accolade

MACON, Ga. Redshirt-sophomore Laura Povilonyte earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor for the week ending Dec. 17, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Povilonyte averaged a double-double for the week, helping the Bulldogs go 1-1.
In the loss to Longwood on Dec. 15, Povilonyte, who had missed the prior three games while recovering from an injury, came off the bench to score 15 points and pull down 10 rebounds.
Povilonyte started against UNC-Asheville and helped the squad pull off an 82-70 win over the visiting Bulldogs. In the game, Povilonyte posted career highs in points and rebounds. She tallied 19 points and pulled down 15 rebounds 13 of which were defensive. The 13 defensive boards are tied for the third most in school history.
The honor is the first of Povilonyte's career, who earned all-freshman team honors after her rookie season of 2005-06. Povilonyte missed last season due to an injury.
