Gardner-Webb Men To Host Radford Monday Night At 7:00

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb will host future Big
South Conference rival Radford on Monday night at 7 pm ET in Paul
Porter Arena.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (5-4) will be playing just their third home
game of the season, and will be coming off the longest break
between games since the season started on November 6. GWU last
played on Tuesday, Nov. 27 (86-71 win over High Point) –
giving the ‘Dogs six days between games.
Gardner-Webb outlasted Radford (2-6) by a 93-83 score on Nov. 17 in
Radford, Va., getting 28 points from Grayson Flittner, 22 points,
10 rebounds and eight assists from Thomas Sanders and 21 points,
nine boards from point guard Aaron Linn.
The trio combined to score 76.3 percent of Gardner-Webb's points
that Saturday evening, and GWU will need a more balanced attack
against the Highlanders Monday night.
GWU is coming off one of its most balanced efforts of the year in
an 86-71 win over preseason Big South favorite High Point last
Tuesday. Flittner led the way in that win with an efficient 20
points, but got plenty of help. Sanders finished with 15 points, 10
rebounds, Linn knocked in 13 points, Tayako Siddle came off the
bench to score 14 points and Matt French scored 11 points off the
bench in the second half.
Gardner-Webb dished off a season-high 24 assists in the game, and
shot a devastating 59.3 percent from the floor against the
Panthers.
Flittner, Sanders, Linn and Nate Blank each have led GWU in scoring
once or more this season, each averages in double figures and each
has posted at least one 20-point game individually.
Radford dropped a tough, 62-60, decision at Presbyterian Saturday
night – as the Blue Hose hit a layup with 15 seconds left to
pull out the win in Clinton, S.C. Radford had beaten the Blue Hose
earlier this season in Virginia by 14 points.
Saturday night in the Palmetto State, forward Joey Lynch-Flohr led
Radford with 21 points and electric point guard Amir Johnson
finished with 16 points. Johnson torched Gardner-Webb for 20 points
in the Bulldogs' win over Radford last month, which Lynch-Flohr had
16. Swing man Martell McDuffy, a product of Maryland's famed
DeMatha Catholic High program, had 18 points for Radford in the
loss to GWU back on November 17.
McDuffy leads the team in scoring through eight games with 16.0
points per outing, while Lynch-Flohr (12.6 ppg), Johnson (11.1 ppg)
and forward Kenny Thomas (11.0 ppg) also average in double
figures.
Monday night's game will be aired live on WGWG-FM (88.3). The
Runnin' Bulldogs and Highlanders will tip off at 7 pm ET sharp.
