MACON, Ga. - Sophomore Kelly Bridges, the
two-time defending conference champion in the pole vault, has been
selected as the women's track and field athlete of the week, as
announced by the Atlantic Sun Conference office.
Bridges won the pole vault competition at the Appalachian
Limited meet on Thursday, Feb. 8 with an indoor personal best
effort of 11'5.75". The mark was not only a personal best for the
Lilburn, Ga., native, but it was also a school record. The height
is also the best in the conference this season.
This marks the first time this season that a Gardner-Webb
student-athlete has won the award.
Bridges and the rest of the Bulldogs will vie for individual and
team conference titles this week at the A-Sun Championships. The
competition will be held on the campus of ETSU Feb. 16-17.
