Lady Golfers Finish Fifth at Fighting Camel Spring Classic

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Gardner Webb women's golf team entered play on Tuesday in fifth-place and after 18 holes and 6,012 yards finished the day in a tie for fifth-place overall.
The Bulldogs turned in a second round combined team score of 321, +33 on Tuesday giving them a two-day tournament team score of 640, +64 placing them in a tie for fifth-place with Colorado State University.
The Bulldogs finished ahead of nine teams, but finished behind tournament champions Campbell University (605, +29), Mercer (635, +59), Illinois State (635, +59) and High Point (636, +60).
Senior Claudine Foong who turned in rounds of 73 and 81 for a tournament score of 154, +10, which was good enough to place her in a tie for ninth-place individually, led Gardner-Webb.
Sophomore Yayoi Garcia turned in a GWU low round of 77, +5, on Tuesday to land her in a t-14th with a two-day score of 158, +14.
Fellow sophomore Mackenzie Renner carded rounds of 83 and 80 for a 163, +19, to finish tied for 37th-place, while seniors Lindsey Hermanson and Stacey Linduska finished with two round scores of 165, +21 and 168, +24, respectively.
The Lady Bulldogs will be off for the next two weeks, as they will next compete in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Winthrop University on March 16-18.
