
Foong and Lady Bulldogs in Sixth at Shamrock Intercollegiate

Tega Cay, S.C. The Lady Bulldog golfers turned in a first round combined team score of 339, +51 on Saturday to put them in sixth place after round one of the 2007 Shamrock Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Winthrop at the Tega Cay Golf Club.
The first round of the tournament which was originally scheduled for Friday was postponed to Saturday due to heavy rain and the course played very difficult with the average score at 91.02.
Elon shot a 323 and holds the three-stroke lead over the field of 16 teams. Atlantic Sun member East Tennessee State is in second with a 326, while Charleston Southern is six strokes back (329) and Winthrop is seven strokes back in fourth place (330). Bucknell University is in fifth-place (333) six strokes ahead of the Lady Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb was led by senior Claudine Foong her turned in a first round 79, +7, to lead the Bulldogs and place her in a tie for sixth-place overall.
Sophomore Katie Garahan carded a first round 85, +13, followed by senior Stacey Linduska who turned in an 86, +14 on the day. Garahan is tied for 24th-place, while Linduska will enter tomorrow's play in a tie for 32nd overall.
Sophomore Mackenzie Renner and senior Lindsey Hermanson shot rounds of 89 and 90, respectively on Saturday, with both carding a 43 on the front nine.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to close the gap on the first-place team Elon tomorrow morning with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m.
