Gomez Extends Winning Streak to Six, as 'Dogs Win 5-2 at Lipscomb

Nashville, T.N. – The Lady Bulldogs scored victories in five of the six singles bouts to defeat the Lipscomb Bison 5-2 on Saturday in Atlantic Sun conference play.
With the win GWU improves to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in A-Sun play.
The Lady Netters found themselves down early as the Bison swept the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
However, the ‘Dogs did not lie down as they came back to win five of the six singles matches headlined by sophomore Jenny Gomez who extended her winning streak to six consecutive matches at the No. 3 spot. Gomez defeated Lipscomb's Emily Ellis in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 to move to 6-0 on the year at the No.3 singles position.
Freshman Laura Kriett won her fourth straight match on Saturday afternoon as she defeated Lipscomb's Raphaela Jann in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at the No.1 slot.
Gardner-Webb's sophomore Amy Beavers completed a Nashville sweep at the No. 5 spot as she followed up her win at Belmont on Friday afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Bison's Casey Hall on Saturday.
Juniors Monica Walser and Carol Pancia each battled their opponents all the way to the end, as both came away victorious on the afternoon. Walser won a second set tiebreaker 7-2 to defeat Olivia Ellis of Lipscomb in straight sets 6-1, 7-6, while Pancia bounced back from a first set 1-6 loss to drop Lipscomb's Caitlin Khouri 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The Lady Bulldogs have already matched their win total from a year ago and will look to continue their winning ways when they will return home to play host to Jacksonville on Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m.
