Cay,
S.C. – The
Gardner-Webb women's golf team carded a combined team score of 329
on Sunday at the Tega Cay Golf Club, 10 strokes less than their
first round score of 339 turned in yesterday.
The Lady Bulldogs
two round score of 668, +92, placed them in fifth-place at the
tournament's end, giving GWU three straight top-five finishes this
spring.
The tournament
host Winthrop Eagles carded a combined two-round team score of 642
to win the rain shortened event. Atlantic Sun member East Tennessee
State finished second with a two-day score of 644, followed by Elon
in third (659) and Charleston Southern taking fourth (661).
Senior Claudine
led the Lady Bulldogs as she carded a two-day score of 161, +17, to
pace the Bulldogs and finish in a tie for seventh-place
overall.
However, the
highlight of the day for the ‘Dogs was senior Lindsey
Hermanson who bounced back from a first round 90 on Saturday to
shoot a tournament team low 78, +6 on Sunday. Hermanson finished the tournament with
a 168, +24, placing her in a tie for 20th-place.
Senior Stacey
Linduska finished right on the heels of fellow classmate
Hermanson, as she carded a 169, +25, and finishing tied for
25th.
Sophomores Katie
Garahan and Mackenzie Renner rounded out
the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs, as Garahan turned in rounds of
85 and 86 to finish with a 171, +27, while Renner shot an 89 and an
86 for a 175, +29 for the event.
GWU will be back
on the links on March 28, when they will compete in the
Mimosa-University Cup hosted by Appalachian State University.
