
Lady Bulldogs Fall to Mercer in Head-to-Head Battle

Hartwell, G.A. - In their first head-to-head match of the season, the Gardner-Webb women's golf team fell to the Mercer Bears 324-319, finishing five strokes behind their Atlantic Sun foe at the Cateeche Collegiate Classic on Saturday.
The Bulldogs were led by Claudine Foong, who carded a 79, +7, on the day, placing her in second-place overall. Foong finished eight strokes behind the first-place finisher Anna Rogers of Mercer who turned in a low round of 71, -1.
Sophomore Yayoi Garcia finished only one stroke behind Foong, as she finished Saturday with an 80, +8 and in third-place.
Seniors Stacey Linduska and Lindsey Hermanson turned in rounds of 82, +10, and 83, +11, respectively, as Linduska found herself in a tie for fourth, while Hermanson finished in seventh-place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was sophomores Mackenzie Renner and Katie Garahan. Renner carded a round of 84, +12, good enough to place her in a tie for eighth overall, while Garahan shot an 86, +14, placing her in tenth.
GWU sophomore Dana Prozeller participated in the event as well, shooting a 91 for the day.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back on the links this Wednesday, March 28, as they will compete in the Mimosa-University Cup hosted by Appalachian State.
