
Bulldogs Tied For Fourth After Day One at Spring Classic

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team shot a combined team score of 298, +10, in the first round of the Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic tournament on Monday hosted by the Campbell Fighting Camels at the Keith Hills No. 1 Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
The Bulldogs, as a team turned in a first-round team high of 59 pars enroute to their score of 298, which was good enough to put them in a tie for fourth-place with Richmond and only five strokes back from the first-place Campbell Camels going into round two on Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Ryan Bell led the 'Dogs turning in a 71, one under par, placing him in tied for third-place overall. Bell led the Bulldogs and the tournament field carding 15 pars on day one.
Freshman Immue Korvenmaa also sits in the top-10 individually, as he is tied for eighth-place with his first round score of 73, +1.
Sophomore Blake Palmer turned in a 75, +3, on the day to put him in a tie for 18th in the tournament field.
Junior Geordie Hagerman and senior Joshua Philbeck rounded out the participants for the 'Dogs, as Hagerman carded a 79, +7, and Philbeck turned in a first round score of 80, +8, on the day.
The Bulldogs will look to close the five stroke gap, when they tee off tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for the second and final round of the Lonnie D. Spring Classic tournament.
