
Foong Tied for First at Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team placed three golfers in the top-10 after round one of the Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Wofford College on Monday to help place the Lady Bulldogs in second as a team.
The Lady Bulldogs turned in a first round combined team score of 313, +25, only five strokes behind the first-place Wofford Terriers, and sit in second-place out of seven teams heading into round two on Tuesday.
Senior Claudine Foong led the Bulldogs, carding a first round 74, +2, to place her in a tie for first-place individually after day one of competition.
Sophomores Yayoi Garcia and Katie Garahan both will enter Tuesday's second round in the top-10 individually, as Garcia turned in a 75, +3, on Monday, which was good enough to place her in a tie for third overall, while Garahan shot a 78, +6, putting her in a tie for eighth-place.
Senior Lindsay Hermanson and sophomore Mackenzie Renner rounded out the Lady Bulldog golfers, as Hermanson turned in a first round score of 86, +14, while Renner carded a 95, +23.
The second and final round of the Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate tournament will tee off tomorrow at 10 a.m. weather permitting.
