Foong and Lady Bulldogs Both Take Second at Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. - Gardner-Webb senior Claudine Foong turned in two rounds of 74 and 74, to finish with a two-day score of 148, +4, to take second-place and medal individually at the Diet Coke Wofford Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Wofford on March 5-6.
Foong medaled for the first time this spring, capturing second-place and finishing only three strokes behind the leader Erin Wells of Wofford.
Foong paced a Lady Bulldog team that placed three players in the top-10 overall for the two round event and turned in a combined team score of 628, +52, good enough for second-place and 10 strokes ahead of the next team.
Sophomores Katie Garahan and Yayoi Garcia both turned in impressive first round scores on Monday to help them finish fifth and seventh, respectively. Garahan turned in rounds of 78 and 76 to finish the tournament with a 154, +10, while Garcia carded rounds of 75 and 81 to complete the two day event with a combined score of 156, +12.
Senior Lindsay Hermanson and sophomore Mackenzie Renner each proved their scores on day two of play with both golfers carding a round of 84 on Tuesday. Hermanson finished tied for 25th with her combined score of 170, +26, while Renner finished 30th with a 179, +35.
The Lady Bulldogs have finished fifth-place or higher as a team in both of their spring tournaments thus far this season and will look to continue that trend when they will compete in the Shamrock Invitational tournament hosted by Winthrop University on
March 16-18.
