Lady Bulldogs Remain in Seventh-Place After Day Two of the A-Sun Championship

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team turned in a combined team score of 315, +27, for the second round of the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship tournament on Tuesday, improving nine strokes as a team from Monday's team score of 324.
Yet the Lady Bulldogs couldn't gain any ground on the leaders, as they continued to hold on to the seventh-place spot with their score of 639, well ahead of the eighth-place team of Lipscomb University (663). GWU is only seven strokes behind the sixth-place Belmont Bruins (632), but still remain 42 strokes behind the first-place Fighting Camels of Campbell University (597).
Sophomore Katie Garahan led the pack for the 'Dogs on Tuesday, as she carded a second round score of 75, +3 over the 18-holes, a 13 stroke improvement from Monday's first round 88. With the improved performance on day two, Garahan's combined two-round score of 163, +19 moved her into 32nd-place heading into Wednesday's final round of competition.
However, fellow classmate Yayoi Garcia is still the leader and low scorer for Gardner-Webb, as she turned in a second round 77, +5 to go along with her 76, +4 first round on yesterday to finish day two with a combined score of 153, +9, good enough for to place in a tie for seventh-place on the leaderboard.
Senior Claudine Foong stayed consistent on Tuesday, as she shot an 81, +9 after turning in an 80, +8 on Monday afternoon. Foong finds herself in tie at 25th-place with her two-round score of 161, +17.
Fellow seniors Stacey Linduska and Lindsay Hermanson round out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs at the A-Sun Championship tournament, as Linduska has posted rounds of 80 and 87 for a total score of 167, +23 and a 34th-place showing, while Hermanson turned in an 88 and an 82 over the last two days, placing her in 35th-place with a score of 170, +26.
The final round of the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship tournament will tee-off tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
