Linduska Sinks Hole in One; Lady Bulldogs Finish Seventh at A-Sun Championship

Buies Creek, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team wrapped up their 2007 spring season on Wednesday afternoon, as they finished seventh overall at the 2007 Atlantic Sun Women's Golf Conference Championship at Buies Creek, N.C.
The Lady Bulldogs turned in a third round score of 323 on Wednesday to give them a combined team score of 962, +98 for the tournament. Gardner-Webb finished 44 strokes ahead of Lipscomb who took eighth-place for the tournament. However, the tournament hosts Campbell Fighting Camels ran away with first-place with a score of 899, while East Tennessee State (928) took second, followed by Mercer (929), Stetson (934), Jacksonville (948) and Belmont (951).
The highlight of the championship tournament for the Bulldogs not only on Wednesday, but for the whole three-day event was senior Stacey Linduska's hole-in-on which came on the par-3, 145 yard, third hole. Linduska stepped up to the third tee box and sunk it, sticking the championship's only hole-in-one.
The senior finished the tournament with a score of 249, +33 and in 34th-place overall.
Sophomore Yayoi Garcia was the high finisher for the 'Dogs, as she finished tied for 14th-place with her combined three-round score of 236, +20. Garcia carded rounds of 76, 77 and 83 for the tournament.
Senior Claudine Foong turned in the team low round of 76, +4 on Wednesday afternoon, helping her to finish in a tie at 17th-place for the event. Foong shot rounds of 80, 81 and 76 for a score of 237, +21, over the three-day event.
Sophomore Katie Garahan carded rounds of 88, 75 and 82 for a three-day score of 245, +29, good enough for a 31st overall finish, while senior Lindsay Hermanson turned in a 262, +46 over the three-rounds of play to finish in 38th-place overall.
The Lady Bulldogs seventh-place finish was the highest finish for the team all spring as they finished in fifth-place or higher in the other five spring tournaments on the season.
