Bulldogs Finish Sixth at A-Sun Championships

Waverly, Ga. – The Gardner-Webb men's golf team finished the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship tournament in sixth-place on Wednesday afternoon, as they turned in a third round score of 306 to end the event with a total combined score of 914, +62.
For the tournament, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore Blake Palmer who finished tied for 12th-place on the overall leaderboard. Palmer carded rounds of 83, 70 and 73 to finish the conference tourney with a combined score of 226, +13.
Freshman Immu Korvenmaa and senior Joshua Philbeck each carded rounds of 75, +4, on Wednesday afternoon to finish with scores of 228, +15, and 229, +16, respectively. Korvenmaa finished the tournament in 17th-place while Philbeck wrapped up his career at GWU tied in 18th overall.
Rounding out the scorers for the ‘Dogs was sophomore Ryan Bell and junior Geordie Hagerman, who finished tied for 30th and tied for 44th places overall, respectively. Bell carded rounds of 78, 74 and 83 for a three round combined score of 235, +22, while Hagerman shot 79, 79 and 85 for a 243, +30 for the event.
The No. 17 nationally ranked East Tennessee State Buccaneers won the event with a score of 868, +16. North Florida (882, +30), Campbell (897, +45), Jacksonville (902, +50) and Kennesaw State (907, +55) rounded out the top-five.
The Bulldogs sixth-place finish was the highest finish for the ‘Dogs in the A-Sun Conference tournament since their fifth-place finish in 2004.
