
Seniors Lead Lady Bulldogs to First-Place After Day One at Longwood Invitational

Farmville, Va. - Seniors' Lindsay Hermanson and Claudine Foong both turned in outstanding performances on Monday afternoon at the Tina Barrett Longwood Invitational, as both finished the day in the top-five individually.
Gardner-Webb turned in combined team scores of 314 and 309 on Monday afternoon, giving the Lady Bulldogs a combined two-round team score of 623, +47, which leads the 13-team field at the tournament hosted by Longwood University.
GWU's Hermanson paced the 'Dogs over the first two rounds, carding rounds of 75 and 77 to finish the day with a score of 152, +8, placing her in a tied for second-place overall.
Fellow senior Foong concluded day one of play in the top-five, as she finished in a tie for fifth-place, turning in rounds of 81 and 74 for a combined two-round score of 155, +11.
Not to be outdone, sophomores Yayoi Garcia and Katie Garahan found themselves in the top-10 overall, as both GWU lady golfers are tied for 10th with a combined score of 158, +14.
Rounding out the competitors for the Lady Bulldogs was sophomore Mackenzie Renner, who turned in a combined score of 171 on Monday afternoon, placing her in a tie for 47th-place heading into day two of competition on Tuesday morning.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3, at the 6,108-yard, par 72 Poplar Hill Golf Club in Farmville, VA.
