Men's Golf Takes 10th at Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's golf team wrapped up their regular spring season play on Tuesday afternoon, as they shot a final round 303 to finish the Wofford Invitaional tournament presented by Vault with a combined team score of 882, +18, good enough for 10th-place overall.
The Bulldogs turned in rounds of 291 and 288 on Monday, but couldn't seem to continue over the momentum as they shot a 303 on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Joshua Philbeck paced the 'Dogs with his combined three-round score of 216, even par, to finish tied for 12th-place individually. Philbeck carded a round 77, +5 on Tuesday, after shooting rounds of 68 and 71 on Monday.
Sophomore Blake Palmer ended the day in a tie for 26th-place, as he turned in a combined two-day score of 220, +4.
Fellow classmate Ryan Bell shot a round of 76, +4 on Tuesday, putting him at 226, +10 for the tournament and in a tie for 45th overall.
Junior Geordie Hagerman led the Bulldogs on the final day of play, as he shot a team low 72, even par for the day. Hagerman finished strong after turning in rounds of 77 and 78 on Monday afternoon to finish in a tie for 48th with 10 other golfers including fellow teammate Immu Korvenmaa.
Korvnemaa turned in rounds of 73, 76 and 78 for the event to finish with a 227, +11 and tied with Hagerman at 48th-place.
Elon University went on to win the invitational, turning in a combined team score of 857, -7, and finishing whole 10 strokes ahead of the second-place team of Charleston Southern.
The Bulldogs will have exactly 12 days off before they compete in the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship tournament on April 16-18. This year's tournament will be held at the Sanctuary Cove Golf Course and will be hosted by both Mercer University and Gardner-Webb University.
