Lady Bulldogs Finish Second at Longwood Invitational

Farmville, Va. - On the second and final day of competition at the Tina Barrett Longwood Invitational, the Lady Bulldogs seemed to struggle but managed to still pull out a second-place team finish for the two-day event.
Round three at the tournament was not kind to the Lady Bulldogs, as four of the five golfers turned in a round in the 80's on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs finished second with a score of 952, over the two-day event, finishing on the heels of the tournament winners Methodist College who finished with a 944.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Katie Garahan who carded a second day score of 77, +5, to put her with a combined score of 235, +19, and in a tie for fourth-place overall.
Fellow classmates Yayoi Garcia and Mackenzie Renner turned in the next two lowest scores for the Bulldogs in the final round of play, as Garcia carded an 81, +9, while Renner shot an 83, +11. Yet Garcia's 81 was good enough to place her in the top-10 at the end, as she finished in a tie for eighth-place with a two-day combined score of 239, +23. Renner's 83 on Tuesday was her best round of the tournament, as she finished with a score of 254, +38, placing her tied for 42nd overall.
Seniors Lindsey Hermanson and Claudine Foong entered day two of play as the leaders for the 'Dogs, but could not seem to get it going on Tuesday as Hermanson finished the day with an 88, +16 and the tournament with a combined score of 240, +24, tied for 12th place individually. Foong carded a third round 89, +17, to finish the event with a score of 244, +28, and in a tie for 24th-place overall.
Senior Stacey Linduska played in the event as an individual, turning in rounds of 81, 82 and 80 to finish the event with a 243, +27 and in a tied for 19th-place individually.
Gardner-Webb's next event will be the 2007 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Tournament hosted by Campbell University on April 9-11 at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
