
Garcia in Top-10 After Round One at A-Sun Women's Championship

Buies Creek, N.C. - Gardner-Webb sophomore Yayoi Garcia turned in a first round score of 76, +4 on Monday to put her in a tie for nineth-place overall after day one of the 2007 Atlantic Sun Women's Conference Championship at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
Garcia's 76 led the Lady Bulldogs on day one, as Gardner-Webb carded a combined team score of 324, +36 on the day, placing them in seventh-place heading into day two of play. Yet the 'Dogs are not out of it yet, as they are only 11 behind the fifth-place Jacksonville Dolphins (313) and 28 strokes behind the leading Campbell Fighting Camels, who finished with a 296, setting a new A-Sun record for the lowest first round by a team.
Seniors Stacey Linduska and Claudine Foong each carded rounds of 80, +8 on day one, placing them in a tie for 22nd-place.
Sophomore Katie Garahan and senior Lindsay Hermanson also shot the same score on Monday afternoon, as both carded a round of 88, +16, to finish day one in a tie for 35th-place overall.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to gain some ground on the rest of the field on day two of play on Tuesday, as the second round action is set to begin 9:00 a.m. with Gardner-Webb's Katie Garahan and Lipscomb's Brittney Beard teeing off.
