
Gardner-Webb Takes Ninth At Sea Trail Intercollegiate

ELON, N.C. The Gardner-Webb men's golf team recorded a ninth-place finish out of 19 teams at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Elon University.
The Bulldogs shot a three-round total of 862 (287-286-289) to finish two-under par as a team. The Phoenix of Elon won the tournament after shooting an 828 (279-273-276) to finish 36-under par.
Leading the way for head coach Tee Burton's squad was junior Blake Palmer. Palmer was the only Bulldog to finish under par. Over the three-day event, Palmer finished three-under par, 213. His scores by round were 69-75-69.
A pair of Bulldogs tied for 37th as they each shot two-over par, 218. Recording the 218 were Joshua Philbeck and Andrew Rickard. Philbeck's scores were 70-74-74 while Rickard posted a 73-70-75.
Junior Ryan Bell shot a 219, finishing only one stroke behind the duo. However, he placed 46th due to the abundance of golfers that shot two-over par. Bell's scores by round were 75-73-71, amassing to his 219 total.
Senior Geordie Hagerman etched his name in a tie at 56th after shooting a three-round total 222, six-over par. Hagerman had scores of 77-69-76.
The Bulldogs have a couple of weeks off before returning to the
links. GWU will next travel to Lynchburg, Va., where it will play
in the Frank Landry Intercollegiate Oct. 15-16. The tournament will
be hosted by Liberty.
