Bulldogs Earn Sixth-Place Finish At Sea Trail Intercollegiate

ELON, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's golf team placed sixth at the three-day tournament, the Sea Trail Intercollegiate. The tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon with the Bulldogs recording a 942 in the 14-team competition.
GWU shot a 317-311-314 over the three days for the 942 total. The Phoenix of Elon posted a winning mark after tallying a +40 (904) for the tournament.
Junior Katie Garahan led the way with a three-round total of 233 (79-76-78), to finish at +17. Fellow third-year player Mackenzie Renner was a shot behind Garahan, posting a 234 (78-76-80), earning a tie for 22nd.
Rookie Courtney Meyer was 30th after shooting a 237 for the tournament. Meyer was +21 (81-80-76) in the competition.
Fellow first-year player Liz Zouzal recording scores of 81-79-80 to finish with a total of 240, 24 over par.
Junior Yayoi Garcia had a three-round total of 243, shooting a 79-81-83 at the tournament. Garcia finished 27 over par.
Andrea Downer of Murray State grabbed the individual title after recording a one-under par, 215, for the tournament. Downer was the only player to finish under par.
The Bulldogs will return to action later this week at the Great
Smokies Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Western Carolina, Sept.
29-30.
